It's almost been a month. We've had 2 weeks of classes, plus today (Monday 24th September). So much has happened, I can't even begin to remember what's happened since last time I posted (I feel like I'm going to end up saying that every single time). Lina (Norway) is giving me a massage as I write this so I'm so distracted :) Ok, so I'm going to borrow Asia (UK)'s bullet journal (which she's so proud of, she youtubed how to bullet journal and is now a master).
So I'll tell you a bit about daily life at Pearson. Bascially the best part about boarding school is that the day before, you can count the steps it'll take to get from your bed to class, and steal a banana out of the caf to be prepared (I did this this morning). It was just over 100 steps from bed to class, but it was up some stairs so I allowed 6 minutes. I ate my banana on the way up to the Spanish classroom, and was sitting in class 7 minutes after I woke up. The second best thing is if you need to ask a teacher about anything in your homework, you can just go and sit at their kitchen table with tea and they'll explain everything. The third best thing about this particular boarding school is MARINE SCIENCE!! It is so much fun, Laura is so amazing and every single piece of information she gives us is so interesting! Global politics is also super interesting, as well as chemistry, I love them all. An average day starts with breakfast, in the caf if I can be bothered, or on the way to class if I'm prepared the night before. Then we have a class, and then morning break. Two more classes back to back and then lunch. One more class, and then either CAS (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or fitness (Tuesday). Then usually the evening consists of studying (talking about studying while actually procrastinating) and occasionally dance parties and karaoke in the day room. On Tuesday we have lunch with our advisor groups and talk about how we're going at school. Last weekend we went into Victoria to buy stuff and act like the tourists we are. This weekend Asia (UK) and I walked into Metchosin on Sunday. We got lost on the way there and ended up walking for almost 2 hours, when last time it took just under an hour. We decided the phrase "it's all about the journey, not the destination" is rubbish when you're bashing it along the side of the road headed to a cafe for lunch and it's already 2:30. After we went to the cafe, we found a paddock and had a nap in the sun. The walk back was much less eventful since we knew the way now. I spent the whole weekend doing chemistry homework because every time I sat down to do it I got side tracked. The other day was Zach's birthday and I got stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time (depending on your perspective, maybe it was the right place at the right time, it was pretty fun) and was peer pressured (by myself) to jump in the bay with a bunch of people to be underwater for the first few seconds of his birthday. It was super cold, but fun. Ummm... I can't even remember anything else that has happened, let me check Asia's journal again. Oh yeah, I can't remember if I did this in my last post but I probably should explain CAS (I can't be bothered checking if I already wrote about it so I'll do it again). CAS stands for Creativity, Action and Service. You pick 2 activities and do them after school on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. I'm doing Cherish (volunteering at the old people's home in Langford) (Monday) and kayaking (Wednesday and Friday). I also have joined PCKULE unofficially (similar to what I did in East Timor) which is after dinner on Wednesdays. We had UWC day on Friday, where we did a simulation game to represent worldwide economic and privilege inequality. It was so interesting the way it turned out. On Saturday I had to say goodbye to my beautiful Kiwi co-year, Izzie (New Zealand). She had to go home briefly but will hopefully be back in January. If you're reading this, I LOVE YOU IZZIE!! I think that's about it at the moment, if you're reading this thinking you might apply, let me know!! Send me a message and I will answer any questions I can. If you're my family and reading this, I'm sorry, I'm so bad at staying in touch but I'm not dead, I'm loving life and I love you all. If you're friends from home, I love you as well, and again, I'm sorry for being so bad at keeping in contact. I miss you Australia. There's too much rain here, not enough dust. Or flies. Or poisonous animals. Lots of love to home! Bella x
