We spent two nights in this stunning, unpronounceable town. The locals call in Ukee so I'm just going to stick with that. This is going to be a long one folks, so settle in, grab a cup of tea (or maybe sit by the kettle), make yourself comfortable and get ready to be transported to the Pacific Rim.

We've been in Canada for 1 week, and I've already learnt so much about the Indigenous people and their history. We did a guided tour of the Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver, and then spent an hour or so in the human history section of the Royal BC Museum in Victoria, and it's so interesting! Here's some notes I took on my phone while we were in the museum, waiting for Grandma and Grandpa so I didn't forget all the information.
We landed in Vancouver tired and cranky after 20 hours travelling, and were met by our host for the next 3 nights, Christopher. He and his family have lived in Vancouver for 3 years, since moving from Chile where they are from. Romina, his wife and his children Leon and Mica were all lovely, and we had a few conversations about life in Chile. They gave us some tips for where to go around the city, and we had an absolute ball for those first 3 days.
Ahhh... my last Wednesday in Australia for 2018. How do I feel? The same as most Wednesdays actually. I still am struggling to picture myself living in Canada, let alone picture myself there in less than a week.
My bedroom is looking more and more like a comfortable, but politely impersonal hotel room. Or maybe an airbnb, cosy and livable, but few signs that someone lives there. |
